FWIW, I saw Zappa Plays Zappa last night and this time Dweezil used 2 Fuchs heads instead of the Blankenship stuff and I had a hard time believing that was the same amp you did clips with. It was sooooooooooooo different.

I thought Dweezil used the TDS amps? I used the Frost for my clips. But even if he did use the Frost, I used different speakers then most guys use which definitely altered the sound IMHO

I Know Im slow but Im still missing the point? If I used an entirely different amp then Dweezil did live then why would you have a hard time believing it was the same amp I did clips with? It wasnt the same amp.

Me too.
I've begun to type a response to what I thought of an amp clip...but I stop and think...I don't like that type of tone anyway, why am I commenting other than to say something negative? ...when the guy probably really likes that tone so why should I comment.

Not to mention, alot of guys (not all, but enough IMO) have already made up their mind about whether their tone is good or not, and they are only looking for positive reinforcement in the responses.

I like honest comments...and I'm free to agree with them or not.

I never listen to clips when they are posted.


But I always respond saying that their tone was woody and articulate, but that the mix was a little bit muddy......and maybe they should try a different mic placement.

I liked what I heard and I kept thinking that I would have liked to have heard it through a greenback loaded cab instead of the Mesas.

Bingo and Im done with it!! After reading some of my posts, Im like WTF was I thinking!! I don't like a lot of the standard guitar tones, so why post anything negative? Ive even done it to you in the Trainwreck clips!! Im just saying that Im done with it because I know what I like. In the end, I think as long as the player is happy then screw the opinions. I guess Ive always known this but was on autopilot with my responces!!

BTW, I did love your Peters clip so there!!

I'm glad you dig that Peters clip. That's my favorite rock tone that I'm getting out of my gear as well.
You need to try the Celestion Blue speaker sometime...it has a really nice voicing...it's like a pre rola greenback with more mids.

I can almost always find something at least useable about pretty much any guitar tone unless it's ridiculously noisey.

I already know that I absolutely LOVE the celestion Blue speakers! The problem is that my wallet isn't big enough for the price that they are asking!!

I'm gonna put two in a vintage sized/basket weave type 2x12 and call it a day for my cab needs....forever.

I'm getting less picky about what guitar tones I like. I'm more interested in the playing and the overall mix of a tune. Unless, of course, the tone is just nauseating.

That I don't like most of the tones that most guitar players like. I like unique tones that are not the norm and the plain vanilla tones bore me, So I will no longer comment on guitar tones.
