I have an old Super Lead with Classic Tone transformers that I love. The cost was lower because of the replacements, it sounds great, and I can run it hard without this nagging fear that if a transformer does let go I’m only out the cost of a repair rather than repair plus massive depreciation because the originality is gone.

I didn’t care for the SV I played. A little too grainy or indistinct when loud. Still pretty good though, I would still rather get a used 1987 reissue and an attenuator. The SC sounded very good. Wouldn’t mind putting an EQ in the loop to see if some lacking beef can be “adjusted”. But it nailed the 800 tone more so than the SV got the plexi/metal panel thing right. Ultimately would rather pay 12-13 for a used OG 2203/4 than a new SC.
If the SC was more towards 899 or at least sub 1000 it would be a fun purchase.

If someone could point me in the direction of clean $1200 2203/2204 jmp’s, I’d be very appreciative. No shade, just saying whenever I look the asking price is closer to 1800 and up

They pop up fairly often, don’t last long.
Plenty more show up with cosmetic imperfections or mods.
Always tempting for me when they pop up. I have to remind myself there is a reason I let even the best sounding of them go.

Too loud?

Yeah. Too stinking loud when I get them to where I love them. Then they are the best sounding amps. Not as great at volumes that don’t hurt my ears.
