Ola will read the "Ola reads the rigtalk thread..." and maybe post a new video about it ? Inception !

It's all fun and games until some youtuber gets severely butthurt, then it's hilarious.

I jest thought.

Really I think Ola kind hit it with the community interaction; not him personally, but youtubers in general. A lot of them have lost touch with the community at large. Once that happens they start to come off a less genuine. And it doesn't help the situation that every new piece of gear they demo is the best thing ever until next episode's gear demo. Even if it's a response here and there, it can go a long way to show everyone you are listening and interacting and combat the disingenuous feeling.
You mean like Kyle Bull?

I like how rather than sitting down in a neutral setting, he's walking around in a sly manner showing off all of his gear. Dude used to be cool and helpful and now he's out of touch.

Ola is the gold standard of drop-chug metal. Normally im not a fan of drop c stuff but he is a master of it.
And who doesnt like a good fart / puke joke ? Don't be a pussy.
His demo of the EVH 1x12 40 watt was most helpful when deciding to buy one.
When he sez a piece of gear will do x----- i know he's not just trying to sell me every new $300 pedal that comes out.

\m/-\m/

Ola seems like the nicest guy in the world, but I went to his channel and nothing he's posted in recent times appeals to me. Kyle's amp videos are good because they're a raw representation of what those amps sound like. These guys have to realize they're in a bubble, though. Modern metal is a niche market. It is not very popular outside of small groups. Modern metal bands come to town and play the smallest venues. The bands that they base their style on (Death, Morbid Angel) years ago came to town and played the smallest venues. I could make a youtube channel reviewing the latest kazoos, but I'm not going to expect a large market outside of the kazoo fans.

this is the one of the main things im always defending our two resident "shills" as everyone calls them being Ola and Glen.. ive never watched either of their demos and felt like they were trying to hype anything up more than it needs to be. Ola is good at bashing things in a polite and non offensive way, and Glen ive seen pack shit back up and tell the company dont send anything again till they get their act together numerous times. Maybe others overhype stuff, i really dont watch many other gear demo'ers, but in the end nothing someone says is gonna change my opinion on what im hearing anyway. these guys are just entertainment for me, i never understood the over the top hatred some guys have, i gotta believe they just cant take someone is getting sent gear to demo, being internet famous and getting paid for it.

I just don't understand why he wears safety glasses in all his videos. He's playing guitar not teaching shop class. It's like putting on a helmet to go for a walk.

yeah ...... I'm lost ...... in my sea of gear ......

that was a real cringer ...

Didn’t read mine. It was among the most practical ones 🥹

The one time I post something silly and stupid, it gets displayed on a popular YT channel. What are the odds?
Looks to be my fault as I quoted you. Oops. My other post in that thread would’ve been a nice one to land on. 😄

Going to Rigtalk to get advice on your YouTube channel is like going to the million man march in a klan robe. Surprised the comments were as mild as they were … historical evidence shows that the membership here is rough on the YouTube folks.

Yeah this already got posted in the thread earlier, we're famous guys thats it
Back in the HCAF days Ola was a regular poster. His user ID was 'texassranger' ; he posted on metalguitarist.org a lot, too. So, I've always felt like he is just a guitar nut like everyone else; i.e. he's one of us.

Leon Todd and Michael Nielsen post on forums, too. Leon posts a ton, actually.

A lot of the gear youtubers are niche compared to some of the really big general YT channels, so the noteriety is not as likely to go to their heads I would guess.

Ola is probably the only YouTube personality I’ll watch if it’s something I’m interested in. Pete Thorn can do some useful demos too. Keeps it professional and useful.

But as for that clickbait shit above. Disgusts me. Gives me a physical reaction. “I’m lost”. We all are moron! Man up!

Ola I also think is cool because he seems to be relaxed. My biggest gripe with MOST of the YouTube guitar guys, is the “safe, vanilla, non-offensive and non-threatening” vibe. They all seem so fake. Trying to be a nice guy, “please don’t ever cancel me” “I’m walking a tight rope and have supressed any testosterone I had left”. Almost talking in a baby voice like the viewer is a toddler. Gross. I don’t need them to be “offensive”. But seriously, have a fucking SOUL.
