either dave murray and adrian smith, cuz iron maiden rock, or zakk wylde.

to get me into guitar it was kurt cobain, i am a child of the nineties, and dimebag. kind of different ends of the spectrum but vulgar display of power and nevermind both made me want to play guitar. i guess you could throw hetfield in there too. but i always hear new guys that inspire me.

in the early days...Van Halen, Beck, Blackmore, Roth, Schenker, Travers

then came SRV, Yngwie, Paul Gilbert and Eric Johnson

As far as the later shredder/shrapnel days..Greg Howe was my favorite and still is.

For me my biggest "influences" are Randy Rhoads and John Lee Hooker. I know that's an odd combo, but I heard Blizzard of Ozz and saw the Blues Brothers movie right about the same time. I think I was like 11 or 12.

My buddy Dave, turned me on to 'undergorund" metal when I was in the 9th grade. Metallica, Slayer, the Legacy demo, Blind Illusion, Motorhead... From there, I was so hooked.

Hendrix, then Zappa.

Those are some SERIOUS dudes on the guitar!

Zappa is one of my favorite composers and could RIP on the guitar.

The whole reason I picked up a guitar was because of Hetfield. When I got my copy of "No Life Til Leather", I knew I wanted to do THAT. I hadn't really heard anything like it before. Was into whatever radio rock was popular before that.

That one shit quality cassette tape changed my musical tastes forever.

Of course, I immediately started devouring anything that sounded heavy for the coming years and came accross MANY awsome guitar players who have also influenced me (then branched out to country, pop, etc for influences), but one guy has remained constant.

I would say Mustaine/Friedman, Hetfield/Hammet, Smith/Murray

Funny thing is I barely play their stuff anymore

Hetfield/Hammet
Dimebag
Kurt Cobain
Jerry Cantrel
Randy Rhoads
Dave Mustane
Alex Lifeson
Joe Satriani - I remeber my dad having a cassette of Satch back in the day, one side was Surfing with the Alien, and the other was The Extremist, and that was it for me! Hooked right away.

and a slew of 70's classic rockers on the radio.

For me it was:

1. George Lynch
2. Angus Young
3. Stevie Ray Vaughn

:)

In the very beginning it was EVH...

Since then it's been George Lynch and Jake E Lee...

I like Demartini, Rhoads, Matthias Jabs too...

Keith

Ace Frehely and Gene Simmons circa 1977. Flames shooting out of the guitar, fire eating, blood, weird makeup, crazy costumes....It was the Star Wars of music to me in the 2nd grade. The guitar=lightsaber in my young brain. I had to have one.

Marty Friedman, Dave Mustaine, and Zakk Wylde. I'm a HUGE Megadeth fan (can't fucking wait to see them in 2 months!!!!!!!) and all their stufff old and new is just awesome, even though Friedman is not with them, the new stuff pwnz. Tornado of Souls is by far the best solo (IMO) EVER.

+1 Mustaine and Friedman got me to play aggressive like I do today. If it weren't for them I wouldn't be playing what I'm playing. I love where I'm at on guitar. and I LOVE Tornado of Souls, the solo just blows everything away.

I got a guitar because of Ace Frehley. I started wondering how the heck you made all those cool sounds when the first VH record came out. By the time Blizzard of Ozz came out, I was determined to figure out how to sound like that.
