66.3% of my marshalls are bone stock :)

Well..............the 77 JMP has a ptp board in it, came like that but a stock circuit.

66.3% or 66.6%....?? If you've got 3, and 2 are bone stock

Just sayin'... Stickler for math (hell, who knows, maybe you did the math on all the components contained within a stock head and changed out 2 capacitors and 1 resistor and this accounts for the oddness of the weighted average).

Fuuny you brought that up, I had .99 in there but edited it for well the wrong reason

Yeah, have 3 including one of said jvm mass buy and one is modded.

I haven't modded my Fortin, Cameron or Golub modded Marshalls. So, they are bone stock

Anyone get to hear the afd at namm, any good?? Curious.

The clips that I heard on Youtube sounds great. Looking forward to try one in person.

There was a clip of it on YT that someone posted here that sounded alright. Didn't blow me away at all. Nice though. Sounded like a Marshall.

I figure the AFD release clips from NAMM would be abundant. Sorry Art.....

Golub has a mod that sounds pretty close.....oh, sorry again

Most of these guys wont care about a marshall unless its modded by mark cameron or mike fortin, if they do answer they will say its ok but i will get a cameron or fortin instead.
its a waste of time asking about newer marshall amps around here.

What he said, lol...

The first JVM group buy in happened here, you never know.

yup!

9 out 10 forum members bought a JVM after that NAMM!

when the hell was that, 07?

so yea, plenty of Marshall guys! and plenty of Marshall guys hopes Marshall hits a homerun one of these days.

I still have my JVM from that buy-in. Love it!

I have an AFD shipping to me in two weeks, I'm not a Slash fan, dont own any of his music or any GnR CD's at all, just want to try the amp.
If I like it I'll keep it, if I don't I can return it or sell it. I'm hoping it sounds pretty cool and old school a bit.

Also, I have 2 JVM's as we speak and LOVE THEM...

This was an AFD thread but... as for the over the top "lets mod your toaster and espresso maker" stuff that everybody is in too these days...

Never tried a Cameron in person but think the clips are SICK stuff
Jerry's stuff just rules and is the bomb IMO the "Nick" stuff is stupid killer
I Bought a Friedman thought it was cool but ya, sold it 2 days later...
Fortin amps, no comment as I dont want to get permanatly banned...

I can see maybe why you would think something like this but I personally don't believe that is true at all.

I love all of the Cameron,Fortin,Friedman stuff but I also love the JVM and the Vintage Modern with a boost and I'm sure that I will dig the AFD as well as many other amps. I have always been honest about what Ive liked and disliked and it's actually gotten me in trouble with manufacturers at times.

What hate about these comments is that it is a logical fallacy and it's almost like you cannot like anything and show convition/love about a product because people automatically misconstrue what you are saying.

Ding Ding, I agree to all. Didnt like the YJM demo at all but will reserve jusgement until I get to play one in person and the I thought that the AFD clips sounded great( like agreat modded Marshall LOL....

With all due respect Art, that was a pretty crappy generalization on your part. Lets face it, the vast majority of us do something to the amps that we play whether we mod them or use stompboxes but in the end, we're still doing something to them to get what we want or are looking for out of them...

Very well said!

We all do many diff things to get the tone we are looking for...

And remember, only a guitarist seeking true tone will run out buy a totaly new amp because he changed the bridge pickup in his guitar.

Well.......nobody answered Art's question. Only a few digs from a couple guys that have another issue regarding modded Marshall's. Surely some RT regulars visiting NAMM got to romp on the AFD a little bit.

Steve

I answered it very early in the thread.

I can understand what your saying and i always respect your opinions and i like you.

Now what im trying to say is theres such a hype and buildup by the camerons, friedmans, fortins and other brands that it seems like some people dont give new marshall amps a chance, maybe the new amps marshall is making like the afd will suck, or maybe they will be awsome but alot of people will write them off and not give them a chance because they see people saying stuff like " for 2k i would rather get something modded by fortin"

Maybe people will get pissed at me for saying this but it seems like theres people around here that wanna fit in with the latest amp of the month and if certain people say a good or bad review on something then a bunch of guys wanting to fit in with that crowd will follow, and its not s o much the guys that love their amps or the builders but it the wanna-be followers that wanna fit in around here because a few popular people hyped up a amp and made a builder the messiah and maybe its not even a hype, maybe they love their amps and give a honest opinion of what they love.

So many times if have seen people like or hate something they heard a clip of or maybe played for 10 min in guitar center and give a review.

Thats fine and we are supposed to love our gear, its just alot of guys that wanna fit in and kiss ass to the more popular people and they start to become tone snobs and can only play modded amps and just think stock amps suck.

Pm me if you wanna talk about it anymore, im not directing this at you or any one person, its just how i feel when i see a bunch of guys wanting to fit in.

I also wanna say theres people on this board that i respect and they know alot more than i do and i know that these guys love what they love, theres some really good people around here that do what they like to do and always have.

Maybe im just cranky or having a bad day, or maybe some of what im saying is the truth, or maybe i should just shut up because i dont know what im talking about and im acting like a asshole again.

Lot of broad strokes used here. I have a Fortin modded Marshall but have liked a lot of newer Marshalls. I owned a DSL for a while and liked every JVM I have played. I am just sticking with what makes me happy right now. I thought the AFD amp sounded great from the clips I've heard.

I like to think I am a pretty upfront guy with no hidden agendas. I like tons of different amps that wouldn't be considered "flavor of the month" at a number of different forums.
