I don't think I have seen anyone round here talking anyone down, except for the occasional troller and we can just moderate their ass right out.

Ding Ding, I agree to all. Didnt like the YJM demo at all but will reserve jusgement until I get to play one in person and the I thought that the AFD clips sounded great( like agreat modded Marshall LOL....

With all due respect Art, that was a pretty crappy generalization on your part. Lets face it, the vast majority of us do something to the amps that we play whether we mod them or use stompboxes but in the end, we're still doing something to them to get what we want or are looking for out of them...

You make some good points and i agree.

Lot of broad strokes used here. I have a Fortin modded Marshall but have liked a lot of newer Marshalls. I owned a DSL for a while and liked every JVM I have played. I am just sticking with what makes me happy right now. I thought the AFD amp sounded great from the clips I've heard.

I like to think I am a pretty upfront guy with no hidden agendas. I like tons of different amps that wouldn't be considered "flavor of the month" at a number of different forums.
Your one of my favorite people around here, your always cool in my book.

No problemo mang, its all good.

My friends and I stopped by the Marshall sound booth for a quick demo of the AFD. I'm really stoked to say that it sounded pretty darn good. With that said, what really caught the attention of my eyes and ears was the Yngwie sig Marshall. That thing rocked!

I heard them both and thought that the YJM sounded much better than the AFD.....

What hate about these comments is that it is a logical fallacy and it's almost like you cannot like anything and show convition/love about a product because people automatically misconstrue what you are saying.

Maybe im just cranky or having a bad day, or maybe some of what im saying is the truth, or maybe i should just shut up because i dont know what im talking about and im acting like a asshole again.

Lol...

Your on point bro!

The whole "Fitting in" & "I'm part of the in crowd" stuff is lame...

What was it about the JVM you thought sounded better than the AFD? More gain, smoother, tighter?

I can understand what your saying and i always respect your opinions and i like you.

Now what im trying to say is theres such a hype and buildup by the camerons, friedmans, fortins and other brands that it seems like some people dont give new marshall amps a chance, maybe the new amps marshall is making like the afd will suck, or maybe they will be awsome but alot of people will write them off and not give them a chance because they see people saying stuff like " for 2k i would rather get something modded by fortin"

Maybe people will get pissed at me for saying this but it seems like theres people around here that wanna fit in with the latest amp of the month and if certain people say a good or bad review on something then a bunch of guys wanting to fit in with that crowd will follow, and its not s o much the guys that love their amps or the builders but it the wanna-be followers that wanna fit in around here because a few popular people hyped up a amp and made a builder the messiah and maybe its not even a hype, maybe they love their amps and give a honest opinion of what they love.

So many times if have seen people like or hate something they heard a clip of or maybe played for 10 min in guitar center and give a review.

Thats fine and we are supposed to love our gear, its just alot of guys that wanna fit in and kiss ass to the more popular people and they start to become tone snobs and can only play modded amps and just think stock amps suck.

Pm me if you wanna talk about it anymore, im not directing this at you or any one person, its just how i feel when i see a bunch of guys wanting to fit in.

I also wanna say theres people on this board that i respect and they know alot more than i do and i know that these guys love what they love, theres some really good people around here that do what they like to do and always have.

Maybe im just cranky or having a bad day, or maybe some of what im saying is the truth, or maybe i should just shut up because i dont know what im talking about and im acting like a asshole again.

I think that you made some excellent points and I totally know where you are comming from now that you explained your view. I also did not think at all that you came off like an A hole lol!. I only commented becuase I think that there is another side of the story that when you get stoked about a piece of gear and you praise it, you automatically get lumped into the hype machine catagory lol .It's part of the reason why I don't comment much anymore in most gear related threads. I think there will always be truths to both sides, but being able to talk about them like we just did, makes this place one of the best IMHO!

All the best!

I get what you're saying though brother, I think it's mostly about people that have similar tastes in what they like. Just have to figure out who has tastes like yours, and take a bit more stock in those opinions.

I agree and this is the best place, we dont all have to agree on everything but as long as we can act civilized we can figure things out and learn, so many boards turn into chaos because of the maturity level.
I was here from day 1 and im glad im a member.

Not much love around here for the stuff i like, as long as i wanna talk 80's music, charvels and jacksons, fortins and camerons i will be ok, but most of the gear i like alot of people dont.

I like emg pickups, esp, prs and gibson custom shop guitars, sig model guitars, splawns, marshall jubes and uberschalls and theres some guys that like that stuff but most dont. Seems like i always see people hating on newer gibsons, emgs, wierd splawn mids, loose ubers with blankets over the speakers, prs have no soul, Etc.

But i like alot of the people and i learn things from these guys, when i wanna talk serious about gear i come here, if i wanna joke around i go someplace else.

Rigtalk is awsome even if they hate on emgs haha.

WHAT???

RIG TALK HATES EMG's???

Dang... I never honestly knew that

I bet EMGs will just slay with an OD-9 slammed into the front of my incomming AFD...

No prob, thats cool with me, because I will love them just as long as everyone else hates them...

As soon as everyone starts liking them, thats when I will have to move on and find somthing else that nobody likes...

I thought the Malmsteen had much more punch and clarity. Much more authentic Marshall to my ears(even with the boost) than the Slash amp....

Just one opinion of many.... :D

Ya but your opinion is very respected...

Let me say this, I thought that the clips I have heard of the afd sound pretty badass! I just heard a post of the malmsteen marshall and it also sounded pretty cool. My only gripe with the recent marshalls is mostly not with the tone or features but with the build quality and reliability, I have had many modern marshalls break down with intermitant problems and such that were a pain in the ass to sort out diagnose and fix. As for the modded marshalls, I have a david bray modded marshall jmp that is probably the best feeling and sounding I have played in years, he added some needed usefull features that werent available stock, I also love the clips i have heard from freidman and want to try his stuff out. With that being said, Going strictly by tone and not factoring in build quality etc, I would like to give the pepsi challeng amp wise to some people around here- blindfold them and hand them their guitar and have them both say which amp they liked best and then also guess which amp is which, many would be surprised
