The Cold Decline - Reverb and eBay Sellers...

I sell on EBay and constantly check any messages if I get an offer I'll reduce the price immediately and advise the buyer if not I'll will still thank them for the offer I learned years ago you never know when that buyer will pay your full price even if you have declined there offer ...and yes the cold blow off is b.s

Another long winded, self-indulgent, look at me thread full of whining. Imagine that.

The make an offer thing is only there because they likely created a mass listing, likely using one of Reverb's importing tools.

It also maybe a MAPP or minimum advertised price thing and they can't negotiate on a certain listed item because the manufacturer wont let them. If they are a high volume seller as well they may not have time to make counter offers or leave messages on every little offer they receive on Ebay.

In other words don't take something like this so personal.

There is a lot of ignorance in this thread, and it's not coming from me. It's coming from small thinkers who would like to believe it's about one transaction (attempted) or about being a victim, or some other stupid shit. These people CLEARLY missed the point. There is a bigger picture, and as I CLEARLY wrote that it's a "symptom of a greater societal problem." How is it that you seem to ignore everything else said and so handily sum it up in such an insulting way? I have to wonder whether it's because it's just in your nature to be assholes or if you just have low reading comprehension.

I appreciate those of you who understood the point here. Some of us are disappointed in the decline of our society to the point where even when you're paying people for something THEY offer to sell to you, somehow or another, they have it in mind that they don't have to give a shit. People who criticize this perspective are the very kind of people who make society this way because they just delight in being little, narrow-minded pricks that want to get under someone's skin. Anyone who hasn't noticed that customer service has generally gone south these days probably thinks that way because they're just assholes themselves - they can't identify with non-assholes.

Sometimes you want to discuss something a philosophical, but then the small brains come along and fuck it up because they aren't capable of understanding it. When you're educated and spend a lot of your time theorizing and developing solutions for the real world, you tend to form the habit of talking about things beyond face value. Sometimes you attempt that on forums like this because you know there are a few people who can think on that level, but almost inevitably, someone with a little brain comes along and makes it out to be something it's not, then all the other little brains and little dicks pile in and next thing you know, the mob is in full swing. It's fucking stupid and it sucks that no one can discuss anything beyond "Yeah that's cool. My brother has one of those." or some other kind of trite bullshit.

No man, you're the one that clearly missed the point. No gear transaction of any sort is indicative of the downfall of society. Our society is more advanced and there is more opportunity to achieve and gain all your worldly desires than there ever has been in history, period.

The only growing trend is that there are more outlets or venues for people to complain about things they don't like. In the stone age the only people that had to hear or read about your latest batch of cramps were the people you lived with and even they would've told you to sack up and move on...

That being said, I tend to agree that it's kind of shitty for them not to respond. But you still deserve to be roasted about having your period over it. Can I get you a cranberry juice?

Ask yourselves this question, if you guys were business owners would you want someone like the OP as your customer?

Not meant as a jab, serious question.

Like I stated in the beginning, I have no problem with that at all. I even said in my opening post that I might have possibly even bought it at their listed price. The problem is that they waited the whole 24 hours to turn me down without any explanation whatsoever. That's a big waste of my time. I made a reasonable offer and waited for them for an entire day.

As long as OPs cash is green it really wouldnt make a difference to me. Its all about the $$$

In the time the OP spent crying over a pickup he could of went down to a street corner and offered $10 car washes. In this time he probably could have made $50 bucks.

Right. He complains about Rainbow wasting his time yet he has wasted plenty of his time with this thread and it's not getting him any closer to that pickup. Apparently hell will freeze over before he sees any side but his own.

If you (op) are such an educated problem solver ( your words), why can't you make your point or listen to different perspectives without swearing?

Nobody is required to sell you anything, regardless of the fact that they have it up for sale. No one is required to sell you anything for less than their asking price either, and one more non-requirement exists. No one has to sit on their computer every second of the day waiting for your under full price offer to come in.

I myself have been guilty of throwing something up on Reverb and then forgetting about it a couple days later and going out of town. Big deal. Shit happens and no one is perfect; it’s hard to think about it like this, but the guy running the store is a person too. Maybe he just took the day off and wasn’t paying attention.

This isn’t a philosophical discussion, nor is the guy not getting back to you inside of 24 hours the final nail in the coffin of Western civilization. Suck ass customer service has always existed and always will exist. It’s nothing new. Is this honestly the very first time in life that you’ve ever been an unsatisfied customer?!

I think the original event in the OP would leave me feeling the same way for about 5 seconds. Then I would just buy it if I wanted it or move onto something else.

FWIW, I wondered in that store a few years ago, spent 15 minutes there and no one talked to me. It had a weird vibe that day. I don't like salespeople all over me, so at first it was awesome, but then eventually I felt ignored like I was a 15 year old trying to road test a LP Custom. This hands off approach seemed more like uninterested. Could have just been my perception or isolated to that day.

I feel your pain. I sent a Reverb seller a question about three hours ago, also about a pickup, and they STILL haven't bothered to respond with an answer. I'm giving them ten more minutes before I call those societal rejects out and bad mouth their business in public too. I don't care that their retail shop is open and they have one of those things called telephones.

Eh screw em... I’ve sent a best offer many many times and get declined without any explanation. It’s business. I don’t care if they give me a reason. I’ll just try again somewhere else.

Hey, at least they responded? I've been known to flat out decline, with lowballers. I find them a waste of time. Someone with a reasonable offer, I'll oblige and converse with.

People just plain suck these days, period. There's several on here that have wasted my time. I hate people that make an offer, you accept, and they disappear. Irritates the fuck out of me. And in the case of lowballers, I personally believe a lot of them don't have the money to back up their offers to begin with. I think it's just a game to see what they can get away with, and just generally waste your time.

People don't leave feedback these days, either. Lazy fuckheads.
