It was blue channel w boost engaged. I used a Blues Driver for the solo. Nothing fancy. I love that amp!

I don't get it. I have an SLO and have had numerous Marshalls..still have a few. Different cabs mean changing the EQ right? So if it's a dark amp, just EQ the friggin thing!! Or run an eq in front or the loop..I've only played an Alchemist and although that's nowhere near the quality of an XTC or other top Bogners, it wasn't bad..and I EQ'd it to be brighter. Simple stuff really..

I'd have no problem cutting through with an XTC. Not sure what the fuss is about. Treble up, presence up, done. Drop the bass back. In fact, I think 2204's suck at lower volumes and i am a Marshall guy. I put the 4700pf cap across my mid pots like they do in the combo because it smooths the amp out at lower volumes and keeps it from sounding buzzy and harsh. (especially with Od pedals) Still tons of cut there. Sounds to me like Bogner designed a Marshall style amp after what he wished a Marshall sounded like in the room vs. on a recording. As for this not cutting in the mix thing, how is it that an amp through a PA already sitting in a mix, couldn't be EQ'd to cut through? Green channels and blue channels sound phenomenal. I'd be interested in a few blue channel preamp tweaks to my 2204 clone that's for sure. (keeping the Marshall power section of course and 47k NFR to 8 ohm tap which I also like, more old school)

I still say the best way to get an upfront tone w/ the Ecstasy is run the Ex switch on Tight.

I thought the same thing Carl but when playing with the band having it set on L cuts through better for me. Bigger mids. I have no problems cutting through in a 2 guitar band. Presence between 2/3 good to go. Using the blue for rhythm and red for leads.

Its nothing special. Charvel USA Pro Mod that I had refinished by Marty Bell. Double cream JB and 59. Same cheap trem etc that they all have. Fun guitar though. I am playing Suhrs now so it sits in the closet ha. I was ina Charvel phase for the last 5 years but now into Suhrs. I guess I am still in my Bogner XTC phase - I want to try a Helios next.....

I thought that might be Marty's work. Looks great under stage lights...that sparkle really pops! Is it gold?

it was called "chartreuse"

It does pop under the lights. I have seasick green one too. Cool guitars and definitely fun.

Holy Flying Squirrel Batman........I think we need to go twist some knobs on the 101b and just hear what in the blazing metropolis happens!!!!!!!

Agreed and this is how Reinhold prefers to run the XTC at volume.
