And that's where we collectively called bullshit, since ASIDE from Holly and Hendrix, there's a whole slew of famous players, blues or not, that play(ed) Strats. Also back in the day. Like 60's/70's.
And the whole point being, LP's are cool and have their place and so do Strats. That's why I own both. They're different tools and both have their use.
To dismiss Strats with some BS argument about 'nah, no one of guitar fame importance uses them anyways, aside from Holly and Hendrix, and maybe 'one or two other guys' is... well, here it's again:

I mostly stand by this. Until Hendrix the strat was associated with surf guitar which was in decline, as were strat sales. You named people like Robert Cray, who didn't have an album until the 80's, and Buddy Guy also played Guilds and Gibsons in the 60's, not strat's exclusively.

I own 3 Les Pauls (2 Epis, 1 Gibson) and 1 Gibson 70s V. I used to be a strat body floyd guy 30 years ago. The Gibsons have great sustain and resonance.

That's pretty much the core of it. They have some drawbacks but the rich tone makes up for it's shortcomings.
Agree, which makes them ideal for blues and rock.

Man, Michael Bloomfield with his Les Paul and Twin Reverb amps, and he said a lot with that set- up. One of the best blues men ever.
The best Mike Bloomfield story I ever heard, was him coming into the studio, out of a winter storm with a Telecaster, with no case.
The guitar had snow on it, and he banged it against the wall to get the snow off of it

Everything except make a good couch guitar, lol. The V and 335 are my other two favorites from the late 50's Gibson lineup. The V actually has some of the "air" of a 335 but seems like has more of the LP thunder retained in the lows. I love a 335 myself but a good LP isn't anything I'd be complaining about if I was stuck with one.
Seems like he got the closest to having the music-mind of BB King with his licks and feel. Beautiful stuff, just plugged straight in.

I have several Gibson LP’s. DC-LP, LP Jr., Explorer, RD Custom, 335,330
Several Fender Strats and Teles, JR Sig Jazzmaster.
Several Core PRS guitars, 2 Tom Anderson’s, 1 Suhr and a couple of good MiJ guitars
I’m not faithful to any one brand or style of guitar.
If I find a killer guitar that sounds and plays great, then I’m a happy camper.
How bout some Peace,Love and Understanding here on RT.

Johnny's tone on Muddy "Mississippi" Waters was killer. I'm guessing it was a Twin but tbh have no idea. I didn't even know that was Johnny until years later but that's one of my favorite all time blues albums.
