lol he isn't Kirk... if he were, good for him for having a sense of humour.

If it were Kirk Brad would be introducing him to the forum, people need to get real if they think kirk hamster would stumble upon a random rig forum just because of a birthday topic

Lots of dislike for the guy here it seems, but he's not even close to winning the 'sloppiest musician in metallica' award.

If Kirk would've crammed his balls in spandex in the 80s most people around here would bow down. Those guys sold out from the get-go and dressed like trannys and they're worshipped  Strange, very strange indeed.....

Hey Kirk remember when my girlfriend gave you a snowball in the back of your bus in Philly '92?

I didn't know I was supposed to go through someone to register on this board? As for the girlfriend thing, I kinda hit the groupies hard after my divorce in the early 90's, kind of a spiteful thing. I almost regret it looking back. I don't specifically remember things/names, but if I caused any issues in your relationship, then my apologies.

Spandex was about as tight as the black jeans that Kirk crammed his balls into during the 80s. I doubt the material mattered much.  People just bag on him, because they bag on everyone that isn't them. I wish I were him...lol. His life is way better than mine

Most people around here ? Utter BS. However, lets do a comparison. George Lynch, Warren DiMartini,Paul Gilbert, Ynwie and Jake Lee to name a few wore spandex. So Did Jeff LaBarr and Tom Keifer along with hideous makeup. Do you honestly think that Kirk could hang with ANY of them?

I respect the fact that he influenced people to play, many of them in fact but if you cant see how the guy really is a second rate player at best thats your problem. Its obvious that hes one of your heroes hence the emotional kneejerk response but the Most people around here comment is kinda lame not to mention untrue

Speaking of emotional responses....

Honestly I wouldn't put Lynch's name in with the other guys you mentioned but to each his own. :salute:

Nothing emotional about it, Im just calling you out on the Stereotyping and generalizations. Truth be told, I actually have every Metallica album and enjoy a bunch of their stuff. I happen to love 80's stuff but my influences are really more 70's hard rock .

The truth as I see it is that Kirk is just not on the same level as his peers, not even close. Certainly clothes and makeup have zilch to do with anything least of all what " most around here" judge a player by..

And most of all Kirk is a team player. Megadeth is different from Metallica even in that respect. While Megadeth has gone through so many line-up changes, Metallica has stayed constant (well except for the bass player).

The biggest reason why people are not impressed is because they think outside of Metallica Kirk is a nobody. He has not released any solo work or even attempted to do one. people feel he cannot do anything by himself and needs instructions from James and Lars for everything.

Here is the deal: 1st: Kirk Hammett plays rhythm guitar in Metallica as well. Parts that most those spandex hair metal guys would be crushed by.

Disagree..

Rezamatix":1hd4mwwm said:
2nd: his solos are great for his band and they work. The only singular problem I have ever had with Kirk was/is his vibrato. His solos on MOP and AJfA are excellent but my favorite is his solos on kill em all, I WISH I could play THOsE solos to this day.

I guess but I think that they could be better. Do you you think that hes great because you cant play his solos?

Rezamatix":1hd4mwwm said:
3rd: not to take anything away from lynch/yngwie/martini, but they are never going to reach the success Kirk has with his guitar, they will never be the rock star he is, they will never have the money or the hookers he does, it's almost funny how much bigger of a rockstar Kirk is than all those washed up 80's players, THAT says everything. You can bag on him all you want, in the end he is the most successful of ANY of them. ANY.

Yeah Success isnt a measure of talent nor were we talking about his success. I cant argue that hes more successful, no one can.In his case, his success is related to the band that hes in , not his lack of ability...
