10000000 times better with Jesse back in the band. I love their riffs and music, just HATED Howard Jones' voice

I feel the same way...

See I didn't get exposed to Kse until after Howard had joined, and so I heard the entire End of Heartache album thinking "Okay this is the band". And then I discovered he WASN'T the original vocalist, and when I heard Jesse's stuff I was just like meh. I guess I prefer Howard's voice over Jesse's angst. I hadn't heard that kind of vocal vibrato in metal since Bruce Dickinson, and I was like

For me, KSE is a guitar band. I don't dwell on the vocal poetry or delivery of it. I see that as a bi-product of it that gets in way of me hearing that sick ass tone and tasty riffs.

Yeah im a song guy. I like all the parts working equally in a tune. This is why I've always done well in bands, because Im not noodling all up in everbody else's musical space.

It's not about allowing equal space, it's about the quality of the guitar work being better than the vocal work in this band, which it is. I'm not singing along, and it's not because the guitars are taking up every facet in the song. It's because I don't really care what the sweaty, angry dude is screaming about. Vocals generally have to be there, and I can dig it. But it's not the reason I pay my admission.

What's that? You don't like Howard because he's black?

Why you motha... :boxer:

Sounds SOOO badass

I'm not going to lie, I did like Howard's vocal ability. To me, he did have a good singing voice for the time, but I did miss Jesse. And he is sounding GREAT

So far I like what I hear, and I can't wait to hear more. I didn't expect the Viper though, I thought it would have been Splawn or Soldano. Nevertheless, WOW! I like the heaviness!

Agreed. I came to KSE when Howard had just taken over, and I like his voice. But Jesse rips it too. I do prefer when they sing more melodic, but that's the singer in me, I guess.

The guitar work on this one is great, as usual.

I only like the chorus and yay, a guitar solo. I'm pretty worn out on screamo/growl vocals. If you can sing...SING.

I hate screamo I vocals, I like the song a whole lot better when he actually sings.

It's definitely KSE. I've liked KSE for their musicality and their tone. I've never really gelled with the screamer/growler metal thang, but of all the candidates out there, KSE is the most tolerable.

With respect to this particular single, it's okay. I liked the intro, I liked the production, the tone, but after 60 seconds, it became same ol' same ol. I'm not going to buy the CD. It's not surprising enough IMHO.

I thought the VH4 was a staple in KSE? Just a thought

I'm with ya on this. Although I will buy the new album. The other songs are supposed to be a little different and expand past the sound of this single, so we'll see.
I've never known KSE to use Diezels I only know a handful of the amps they have used over the years like:
Mesa Triple Recto
Framus Cobra
5150
H&K Triamp
Splawn Nitro
Laney Ironheart
Fuchs Viper

I supposedly bought a Triamp MK I out from under whoever purchases amps for KsE. According to the seller, someone representing KsE had contacted him about the amp (which was an ebay auction) but they were trying to talk him down on the price. Could have (probably) been a concocted selling point, but the guy was honest enough to refund me $100 to fix the bad AMP 2 treble pot that the amp came with.

Alive of Just Breathing was Triple Recto
End of Heartache was Dragon + 5150 except for Rose of Sharyn. Dragon blew up, so they used a Cobra
As Daylight Dies was SLO + Triple Recto
New Self-Titled was VH4 + Nitro

I believe Times of Grace was similar to EOH with a Block Letter 5150 on Rhythm and Cobra on leads. Think Adam used a Fender for the cleans.

Who the fuck cares about what amps were used for cleans?  Geezer! :D

I agee, they sound so much better.

I agree as well but I truly think its better, not due to vocals but the music is back to original kse style.

I do like Jesse he is great but can't understand the hate on Howard. The dude has an amazing voice both screaming and singing. Yea i guess his cleans are a little theatrical. also I know that after the heartache release i refused to listen to them so I have no idea what he sounded like on a couple cds but I actually think his dirt vox are better than Jesse.

You ever listen to Blood has Been shed? Howards pretty sick.

Ok ill edit this It def sounds better with Jesse :). But Howard's still sick as fuck.

His voice just didn't sound right for this kind of music, he's got a rich and talented voice no doubt.. I just always felt like it was a little too over the top :P but what do I know, opinions are like assholes :D

they sounded sooo much better with Jones on vocals
