I only like the chorus and yay, a guitar solo. I'm pretty worn out on screamo/growl vocals. If you can sing...SING.

I hate screamo I vocals, I like the song a whole lot better when he actually sings.

This. I greatly prefer Howard's vocals for this exact reason. Can't stand when Jesse screams

+1

about 7 years ago, I saw Slayer, Mastodon, and KSE in STL on Halloween. Went with a high school friend of Mastodon's, and got VIP backstage passes as a result. Masto kept calling KSE "Killswitch Engay", and I will forever after only be able to think of them as that. also, I got to meet Slayer :D

Yeah, KSE poke fun at themselves alot for not being as hardore as their peers. I have a DVD of theirs and they put in all these popular bands slagging them on camera for being whimps.
They hardly ever party on tour and usually just stay on the bus and play video games and watch movies. Lot's of the bands call them names because of the melodic singing and stuff in their song's too. But KSE often join in and make fun of themselves as well.

10000000 times better with Jesse back in the band. I love their riffs and music, just HATED Howard Jones' voice
I agee, they sound so much better.

I agree as well but I truly think its better, not due to vocals but the music is back to original kse style.

I do like Jesse he is great but can't understand the hate on Howard. The dude has an amazing voice both screaming and singing. Yea i guess his cleans are a little theatrical. also I know that after the heartache release i refused to listen to them so I have no idea what he sounded like on a couple cds but I actually think his dirt vox are better than Jesse.

You ever listen to Blood has Been shed? Howards pretty sick.

Ok ill edit this It def sounds better with Jesse :). But Howard's still sick as fuck.

His voice just didn't sound right for this kind of music, he's got a rich and talented voice no doubt.. I just always felt like it was a little too over the top :P but what do I know, opinions are like assholes :D

Yes, but I value your asshole :)

We are totally revealing our ages talking about "that gal-durned screamer growly music".

Alive of Just Breathing was Triple Recto
End of Heartache was Dragon + 5150 except for Rose of Sharyn. Dragon blew up, so they used a Cobra
As Daylight Dies was SLO + Triple Recto
New Self-Titled was VH4 + Nitro

Seems like the return of Jesse is gonna kick some ass! Best sound I have heard from them since "The End of Heartache"

No SLO on Daylight, but pretty sure Eddie played one at some point.

I got the SLO info from Adam in this interview:

http://www.guitarmessenger.com/intervie ... ch-engage/

Would kinda hope that Adam would know what amps he used on the album, but it's possible they changed it without him knowing, or he might have simply misspoke from all the amps they tried. If you guys have any other information on what was (or possibly was) used on the album, feel free to post it up. I'd rather know exactly what was used than spread wrong information.

KSE is not "screamo". That's that whiney post-hardcore bullshit that evolved from emo that sounds like a quartet of little boys having butt sex and grunting because they forgot to use lube. Then the singing comes in and it sounds like puberty is still years away...

This is what metal is. Singing and screaming. Pantera is/was metal as fuck and Phil screamed (and tried to sing, lol)

Oh, cool. I thought I got it straight from an Adam interview that Daylight was all Mesa. Guess not. Might have been live amps they were using at the time:)

Both vocalist have their place in the band. I think Howard has a cleaner, somewhat more sophisticated clean voice, but they both rock the house.

It does seem like he should.

But from my experience in the studio, I am willing to give the guy a pass. I know before I go in, I try a bunch of different amps to find 'my sound' for the moment. But when you get inside, and the clock is ticking, and your shit isn't working like it should, you try every other amp you have, and every amp they have in the studio, to get your sound. Once you find it (or at least a close approximation), then you rush to get THAT tone on tape. Once it's all done, it's pretty easy to forget what you finally ended up using.

EDIT: these studio experiences were before I found Mike Fortin's amps

I've been listening to the single and the whole album a lot and It rocks! Jesse's voice is growing on me.

Daylight dies was definitely Joel's "mr scary" George Lynch SLO and the white plexi Splawn Nitro that was later stolen from their storage spot. No recto from what I was told unless there was some additional reamping around mixdown time. Fender vibrolux for cleans.
I had that SLO for a while and it just rips. No clean channel, KT-66 loaded with depth mod and a peculiar warren haynes mod that was active at all gain regions.

I love the new album, listened to it loads since it came out. Best they've done since of end of heartache for me.

It is great, been listening to it non stop for a month. The songs are actually pretty diverse sounding.
