Deliverance and Wiseblood have absolutely stellar guitar tones.Dunno about "only Recto."
My fav Recto tones were always blended with a Marshall.
Tool and Soundgarden, specifically.
I assume Korn was all Recto.
I think Woody from COC has been only Recto forever. But my fav tunes had Pepper in the mix with his .50 Cal +, which can be quite Marshally.
You're probably going to find some late 90s, early 2000s answers. Like Incubus.
Deliverance tones are so rawDeliverance and Wiseblood have absolutely stellar guitar tones.
Woody has always used his trusty Dual Rec, and Pepper used a .50cal+ for those albums. Probably an SG with Invaders is key too. Honestly their best tones. Later on when they switched to Orange sounds more muddy IMO.Deliverance tones are so raw
And mid heavy. Doesn’t sound like a recto at all…
I guess I’m hearing the .50 cal tone the most. Thx for the infoWoody has always used his trusty Dual Rec, and Pepper used a .50cal+ for those albums. Probably an SG with Invaders is key too. Honestly their best tones. Later on when they switched to Orange sounds more muddy IMO.
Killer album. Got into them in 1999 after seeing them open up for Mercyful Fate. Bought Dreaming Neon Black, and Dead Heart came out not long after.This. Dead Heart still sounds amazing.
Last 2 times I saw them live they both played Orange. I heard no mud, just loud as fuck!I guess I’m hearing the .50 cal tone the most. Thx for the info
Those and Americas Volume Dealer are my favs.Deliverance and Wiseblood have absolutely stellar guitar tones.
I like AVD too, just that the production suffered from what I'm pretty sure are electronic drums. Guitars still sound great. Those and Americas Volume Dealer are my favs.
Kirk's Rhythm tone on Load and Reload (right channel) are killer. Blended with Marshalls yes, but retains that recto growl.
and 311's "Blue" and "Transistor albums."
Yeah man. They almost broke out huge when Metallica took them on tour with them supporting Wiseblood, but they just didn't explode like they should have. One of my favorite bands for sure.I’ve never understood why Corrosion of Conformity isn’t more popular than they are. Pepper has great vocals. They write good songs. They have a raw sound which I like, but maybe that’s not popular.![]()
The thing that's really fucked up is Metallica's Black Album totally tried to steal that COC vibe because James is a big fan of theirs, and sold like crazy. Yet COC still languished in relative obscurity with a niche crowd of die hard fans.I’ve never understood why Corrosion of Conformity isn’t more popular than they are. Pepper has great vocals. I owned a Tremoverb for 26+ years, and the best tones I ever got with it came from pairing it with single coils. I used it extensively with P90's, Lace Sensors, Dearmond types, and numerous humbuckers. Don't get me wrong, I got some awesome tones with humbuckers too, but there is just something about the clarity and air of a great single coil that pairs in the most beautiful of evil ways with that wall of sound Recto tone. With single coils!
