ONE amp and done and out thread!!

Even though it's a recent purchase and I'm still giddy, my goodnes, best amp I've ever plugged up to, my Cameron modded Chupa (I've dubbed it the "Chewpacameron" :D because it has gobbs of chew and chunk with awesome touch sensitivity). My Splawn Quick Rod is on thin ice, and I say that being a three year owner/fan (which is a lifetime for me, lol).

To the OP, Channel 2 on the VH4 with gain at noon and MV at noon will tear any Marshall pedigree a new assh@le. Just sayin'....

You are fucking high dude! Guess everyone should sell me their 67 plexi's cheap right! and CH2 on VH4 is lack luster to me -- CLIPS!!!!! I always enjoy your posts but, You are fucking high dude! haha

Having played a large selection of amps over the years, when I went to the VH4 Ch2, I immediately thought "jumpered Plexi with everything on 10. It was fantastic.
Alright, so I'm not high   Glad I'm not the only one - the Channel 2's got chew...I'm serious.

VH4  A VH4S has been my main amp for the last six years, owning it has enabled me to thin out the herd :)

Martin

Had mine for over 6 years - and now my tastes are with the Hagen. Not trying to steer the OP, but facts are facts. That being said, if there wasn't a Hagen, I'd be 100% satisfied with the VH4(S) fully and completely :salute:

hahaha Ventura, It's just that you are not alone! For me Marshall is so different then the VH4 2__ But the OP kinda can't go wrong Diezel or CCV

After 2 days so far the results are

1. VH4
2. Cameron CCV
3. Rhodes Colossus/Conford MK50II tie

let the input continue.. thanx guyz

I have owned two VH4's. Channel 2 is OK, but Channel 3 is where it is at. Channel 4 I didn't find much use for as it was too loose. The cool thing on the VH4 though is the versatility and functionality of the series/parallel loops and the channel insert loops, as well as the MIDI switching capability. The VH4 certainly has my respect. FWIW, I thought the older one sounded better than the new Blueface one's, even though they are supposedly the same. There are plenty floating around though, and you can always find one.

Good luck finding a CCV or waiting on one. It is explosive though and very tight. There are some tonal differences though between original and production. If an original comes up, jump on it.

Don't know anything about the Rhodes, but those who have played it, love it. Isn't it a preamp only?

For maximum wood, try and find a Cornford MK50H II and don't look back. Two loops, dual masters, OD on top of Channel 2 gain and all foot-switchable. There are several permutations of switching combinations with the dual channel, dual loop, dual masters in action. Top shelf stuff here, extremely quiet and well put together. Wish I had got one sooner.

Also, if you can run up on a 2 channel Fortin or Gower Cali mod with all the bells and whistles, give it a shot. It will keep up with or even surpass the CCV on Jose type gain, but will loosen up a little more when needed.

If you like tight, uncompressed, unfiltered tone, and a high-quality build, don't over look a Wizard MCII.

Decisions, decisions and the "one amp" dilemma....

Never been high in my life, so explain that, buddy. ;)

Can't compare a Marshall to a Diezel. That's like comparing a camero to a Ferrari !

They are different animals - no question. I was just saying, that with the octane high, Channel 2's got chew - that's it that's all... No worries, I can take a ribbing now and then :D

The Colossus is a 100 watt head. I did this vid for it:

sounds good. how would you compare it to your modded marshall.

Nice.....

The Rhodes guy (Kevin, I think) has been willing to send the amp around for demos in the past. Maybe you could work something out if you gave him a call. I'd love to check one out. It came to the Bay Area but I just couldn't make it out in time. The people that had it were seriously impressed.

Talk to Kyle at Rhodes amplification. Have him build you a Colossus tuned to YOUR specs. Will be the last amp you'll ever need.

Yeah, Kyle offered to send me an amp to demo....as well as another great dude here on this forum that offered to send me his Rhodes to try. Kyle is a great guy and one helluva builder  After the new year I will push a bit more and start trying a few amps and make my decision...hopefully.. :D happy holidayz

New for 2012!!!

Fuck Yeah/Hell Yeah...that is all  Think I'll be contacting Kyle and get a demo headed my way sooner than I thought.
