But I think the guy shouldnt be making all the tones for her, because, he didnt make great tones for her. a guitarist really has to make tones for themselves, to get the right feel while playing.

Is she a "great" guitarist? No, not really but that's not really the point. She is good, and she has managed to carve out a career for herself which isn't easy, and do her looks help with that? Obviously. Its silly to pretend that looks don't matter. Non musicians are the audience that matters when it comes to the bottom line and if you think they'd rather watch a fat balding old guy shred away while looking awkward and dorky on stage vs. Orianthi you're kidding yourself. Good for her for doing what she loves and finding some success at it. I remember seeing the video where she talked about how she got the MJ gig. He wanted a young good looking FEMALE guitarist that could pull off the guitar parts. Sucks for Jennifer Batten, but looks matter and even moreso if you're a girl.

My guess she is new to TC Electronics, and just got the gear (is she now endorsing TCE?) which her tech quickly dialed in before a show...she may not have even used it for the show...

I vote by what I buy musicwise, but as someone said if you can make a career doing something you love, I say good for her. If people buy your music, see you live, and buy your trinkets, etc., and you get good endorsements...irrespective of your skillz level or looks - hats off to you, good for you- wish I could do that...capitalism at its finest. IMO / YMMV

My playing sucks in comparison, but even the TC Electronic factory presets sound better than those her tech dialed in for the original post video, IMO.

not knowing how you get your sounds is indeed strange IMO. Now, collaborating with a tech that knows the gear better than I do, and can show me how to use it better and faster than reading the manual...I could dig that, but I'd want to know how it works, and dial it in myself.

my buddy just engineered her new album, lets just say it was not a great experience. she is just ok as a player and not that great in the studio...BUT she is AWESOME for getting girls into playing guitar and Im all for that.

I seem to remember some hot chic in vids shredding some metal on here a while back. I though that chic was easier on the eyes than O, although she is pretty. The other chic was just prettier in jeans and a t-shirt. I am glad any time ANYONE chooses rock/metal over that shit hip hop or rap. I think she is good for rock/metal and hopefully she will have some wardrobe malfunctions in her near future.

As per your avatar and Juggernaut's ever pleasing sig and avatar as well, there is merit in what you speak. Something pretty on the eyes makes a helluva difference to the buying public - the consumer - and if that demographic happens to be heavily populated with late teen males right through to 40 year old guys, than pussy it will be and pussy will sell.

However, this chick doesn't do it for me - musically or visually. So it is a bit of whatever. I remember in one of Madonna's more candid memoirs, she was asked what it was in her talent and skillset that set her apart from the rest to reach the stardom she had attained. She basically answered with a chuckle and said dead panned - I sucked and fucked my way to the top, and that's really about it.Go figure!
