Ah, yes... I see. I shall self-ban without delay. :salute:
No need self ban for Christ sakes.
It’s a cool kick ass pumpkin!!
I was looking at it, thinking that you would need to cut completely through the pumpkin to achieve that image. Yeah... that's how old I am. :aww:

This does remind me of something though. My friend Thomas cut down a palm tree on his property, but instead of tossing the pieces out, he carved them pieces into Tiki statues using a chainsaw! The detail was on another level, totally. I never got to see him carve one, but it must have been one hell of an undertaking. He put two of them in his yard, which ended-up capturing the attention of the neighbors. He said he had over a dozen people in one day, asking him where they could get one? Why he didn't sell them, I don't know? He ended-up giving all of them away, which was cool.

No worries - we are all good :)

This was the first time I did one like this, never attempting it before. I have always done ones a little "off" over the years - the Avenged Sevenfold Deathbat, the Formula 1 logo, Green Bay Packer Logo etc. I thought about the Dremel idea and feared I would cut through.

It was actually pretty simple, but time consuming and tested my patience. The toothpick was used to follow the exacto knife line for the small lines (around the head, body shadows etc), and the flat end of a skewer was used to dig out and in to the circle and star. It worked perfect. I was honestly surprised at how well it turned out.

Well, it looks fabulous.

I was heavily into art when I was young. I painted the cover art of the Kansas "Leftoverture" album on my bedroom wall. Since my parents didn't take issue with it, I decided to do the other walls as well. The second wall was Aerosmith "Toys In The Attic", third wall - Led Zeppelin "Runes" aka IV, fourth wall - Boston. My mom always said that it killed her to have to paint over it when they sold the house. Your carving made me think... Do I still have that level of patience, and focus? Inspiring! Truly inspiring.

It’s cool you guys are getting along now. Fake, but still cool.

.....just joking guys, couldn’t help myself

So doing test runs. Do you just light candles in it turn the lights off? Then carve / chisel in the dark with candle lit? Get the spots you needed?

Awesome for sure.

  Given the ability to digtially create images, it's difficult to know whats legit, especially when you're inundated with memes on a daily basis. I've been spending too much time on the OT subforum, obviously. *Krull and WGAF should get some form of recognition for trolling with the most memes ever. Guinness Book? :student:

It's not my style to call something out as fake without first getting the facts. Again... too much OT.

No - it was actually super simple. I printed it the size I wanted, taped it to the pumpkin, and poked holes through the print on to the pumpkin around where I was going to cut along with doing the same for the shadows. I then took the print off the pumpkin, and referred to it for shadows etc. as I was using the exacto knife, skewer and toothpicks. I only lit the candles when done, and didn't adjust it after that as I was pleased with the results.

For the record, I am the LEAST artistic person, and my handwriting looks like I am in third grade. If I can do this, anyone can.

If you don't mind, please post a close-up of this cavring with the lights on. I'm getting negative feedback, in regards to my calling this a digitally created image. If I'm wrong, I will comsume an entire box of Cap'n Crunch in one sitting. Seriously though... if it's legit, I apologize.

Stop smoking crack for a start.

This was gold, SJ.

Ahhh, that’s really cool. I did not think about “not” cutting all the way through the pumpkin, haha. Not sure why I never thought of that, learn something new every day...
Same here mate. It was a D'Oh! moment when the beans were spilled.

Brilliant job, Michael.

Someone still has to down an entire box of Cap'n Crunch.

Yeah brother, I've been waiting to see what happens. :checkthisout:

Stanz, remember mate, if it's not on video it didn't happen.

LOL. How ironic coming from the feeble minded dipshit who thought it was a digitally faked pumpkin carving. Go wipe the drool off your chin you special boy.

Let’s not trash this kick ass thread. Please.
Really love seeing things like this. And not people coming in to slander.
Thanks guys!

Question OP....
Got any other past carves you got pics of?

This was posted from one of my favorite facebook feeds and I thought of your thread:
