Thoughts on traditional sized Mesa cabinets?

And all the clips that were made with the Mills on the V30 sounded...ok. The clips done on the Marshall cab all sounded better.

True. What sounds best in the room doesn't always sounded best recorded, & vice versa.

Well, I'm a basement player, but I run my amps wide open when I play.
My Traditional size Mesa never lets me down. As mentioned, very tight, thick and lots of presence and projection.
I would most defintely get two of them. If that's an option, do so.

I had a traditional and oversized Mesa at the same time for awhile. Tough as nails cabs IMO. It's was tighter and more focused in the low end than the oversived for sure. I didn't find they lacked bass either. I don't really want a cab adding hyped frequencies anyway. If I went with a Mesa again that's what I would get, but they just don't do it for me. I didn't think they stayed as tight as they should've once the volume started coming up and I found them very directional. They are a little a cloudy, or dark as others have said.

2 cabs for the price of one Mills is pretty tempting, but I'd get what you want if you can afford it. If you're planning on spending the same amount of money anyway, I'd get 1 cab, be it a Mills or whatever, that you really want, rather than spend the same amount of money for 2 that aren't what you're wanting. That's just my $.02

I appreciate what you are saying in terms of getting what I want, but the problem is I don't know what I want....I want a Mills based on internet snake oil hype, not for any reason I have come upon myself, if I could find someone who had one that would let me try it then I could figure it out myself, but finding someone within this area inside Canada and one with v30s, well let's just say Id have a better chance finding Jesus.
And I don't want to just buy it, if I don't like it, well you saw how much trouble Greg had selling his virgin mint one for 800$ haha so....

I have access to these Mesa cabs, working at L&M but nothing else I really want to try.

I already have a splawn cab and a Krankenstein cab I got for free but I just don't think they are it for me.

I did try the prototype Meathead with a stiletto cabinet and really liked it, and so did the band, so hopefully 2 will be better hahaha

thanks for all the insight guys!

Just an FYI...Mills has a money back guarantee...if you don't like it, he'll take it back within 30 days, and even cover your shipping back...so you really don't have ANYTHING to lose. Try it, and see if it does it for you!

Really, I doubt he would cover shipping back from the Canada to the US however! if so then I don't have anything to lose excpet the initial shipping cost!?

That cabinet at Fortinfest was mine, by the way, and I agree that the blackback cabinet sounded better. I sold that cabinet to buy an Engl Pro cabinet.

The best sounding cabinet I own, both in my room, and recorded, is the Mesa/Boogie Rectifier (Standard). Get that cabinet, and never look back (I promise).

I thought the Mills sounded better in your Recto/Mills A/B clips from a few months ago. More articulate, defined midrange is what I heard on the recordings.

I've never been a fan of the standard cab, that is my problem, all the times I have played it it had too much woof in the bottom end, granted I have not played it with a Meathead yet, but I'm just not sure, what I'll do is I'll get both cabs from work and A/B them at my house, then I can decide from there.

as for the mills, I think unless someone has one within a certain radius of where I live, I just don't want to take the chance.

I've been through a lot of cabs and the Mesa Trad is the one that I still own :)
It's a great cab!
