I put a JHS Colour Box v2 in the loop and a MXR OD in front and it's just... I don't really see what could be much better. You're all right, of course. Playing it more critically next to the JEL made me realize just how incredibly awesome it always was. Besides modern features, I don't think much can improve the sound itself in my mind so I'm going to leave it as-is with just the loop.
