What’s your LP killer?

I don't know, if I'm dropping $4k+ for a guitar I don't want to have to go to a store and play 20 of them to find a good one. I'm funny like that.

PRS every time. The SC245 I have has eaten every LP I have had here, and the DGT is in the same ballpark (I've been through maybe 10 Gibsons)

That said eventually I do want to add an LP Custom to my lineup, but likely after an SC594

I kind of think you need to get a 24.75 scale and likely a set neck guitar if you want to go to war with an LP...otherwise it's just a general guitar vs guitar

Lots of Les Paul style, single cut guitars made by different manufacturers out there that are high quality, have cool options, and are priced reasonably. I like some of the guitars that are posted on this thread. There are alternatives to the Gibson Les Paul guitars since the late '70s starting with the Ibanez Artist and Yamaha SBG 2000/3000 guitars on forward.

For me, I traded off my '96 Les Paul Custom for a '95 Hamer Archtop Sunburst guitar in a pretty cherry sunburst finish. Some people are going to say "What"? The reduced weight, double cutaway (Les Paul Junior style), ease of access on the neck heel when playing high up the neck, the different tonalities with the volume/tone controls & 3 way switch makes it an enjoyable guitar to play onstage for me. Most people are pretty picky for Les Paul type guitars since most guitarists are conservative and most of us want to play the guitars of our musical heroes. Pick one that works for you and play it hard!

Gibson does good, but send a LP to Historic Makeovers, and when you get it back you'll want to send every Gibson LP you have to him

My LP killer is/was my 2006 PRS Singlecut but that may be getting killed by a Godin Summit that I recently rented. Excellent underrated guitars!

I had shopped for a LP for a while when I found the PRS and every now and then I think I might be missing something so I try out some more LP's and never find one that really grabs me. The Godin felt right as soon as I picked it up.

This one is everything Gibson wouldn't build me. Ebony board, SS frets, gold MOP inlays etc....currently sporting some PRS McCarty pickups. Just fully slays every LP I've ever touched except the older LPCs.

Dude what is that?
LPs without ebony really turn me off. Love the dark wood

I have a couple of guitars that I like better than my LP. One of them is my early 90s Yamaha Weddington Classic. It's better than my Gibson in every way. Unfortunately I don't have a pic handy.

The other one is my Xaviere XV500. It's from the original run when they were essentially Zemaitis rip-offs. Cost me $349, and I did have to change the tuners, pickups, and knobs. I probably play this guitar more than anything. It just plays so nice and sounds so good. Pretty bad that an LP Standard that cost almost ten times as much doesn't measure up.

Here's my LP with the Weddington in the background.

And here's the Xaviere.

I have 5 Lesters out of the bunch that I couldn't bear to see the removal of (not including my actual "vintage" collectors which don't get played much whatsoever, let alone see the light of day). They're each 100% perfect and different from the other. Each with their own personalities. Each offering something different and inspirational. I have many others, and my only outside brand other than Gibby is ESP (Horizon fanboi here!!), but those 5 Lesters...they're part of me.

Les Paul killer?? Probably not. But my Burny RLC-70 and my Tokai EG-600 are pretty good

I do hear the newest Gibsons are excellent. Almost bought a new R9 but found something else I've been wanting

I was thinking Fernandez Monterey

Hmmm, the waist doesn't look skinny enough to be a Monterey.

Here's a Schecter Hellraiser
