i prefer dimarzios but his trebly/thinner tone started when he was still using hs2s...a lot of his other gear stayed the same too.

it seems to time perfectly with dropping the 65s for the 75s (and the 75s have gotten brighter and brighter with each generation > early vented > uk unvented > china unvented, although yng probably never bought the newer chinese ones)

I feel like anyone who has spent many hours with all 3 speakers can instantly hear when his 65 vs 75 vs 72 v2 tones.

For me the first sign of Yngwies tone becoming muddy is on the 7th sign record. Though only at one point, and I'm not sure if it has anything to do with his signal chain, but more to do with how it was recorded. But listen to the fast descending riff at 2:23. It has that muddy tone that you can hear in all of his post 2000 records. Attack is the first album where he went full mud.

You can make any recording sound anyway you want in production. I doubt his signal chain has changed much in the 2000s other than using the Duncan Furys, which are a bit brighter and slightly hotter, but not something that causes major change on its own.

His biggest problem is that he appointed HIMSELF as exec producer in the 2000s, and recently lead singer, two areas that aren't his strengths.
