I've been looking at some alembics lately. The Alembic Further guitars are insanely beautiful guitars, serious craftsmanship. Obviously the prices are a bit much for most people, just wanted to see what your thoughts are?

I may pick one up, or just use them as inspiration on my next build. I really like the way they layer the woods, tons of work involved. I could definitely make something similar for considerably less $ than they are asking, which is interesting because they state "we simply can't make them for any less"

Here's an example

I have a couple, a skylark and a custom series II (and a 70s series I bass) They are heavy and not very ergonomic, but still very cool guitars. Their 18v series electronics are awesome, much better than the 8v "lower" models. I put passive humbuckers in the skylark.

The further has a chambered body, so its not incredibly heavy. Definitrly heirloom type stuff, GAS for this particular further is getting to me!

Do they play like magic, or does the lrice tag outweigh the playability?

You can make something similar? I'd love to see that!

Playability is awesome but not like magically better than any $2k plus guitar. Their basses are the shit tho and untouchable.

Electrics are much easier to make than I would have thought. A build like this is all about having the right tools and taking your time. This particular guitar has many layers of wood, so more time consuming, but not terribly complex. If Im gonna build the neck I will need more tools, but the body I could do. The current build Im working on i have 6 pieces of wood on the body, so I would just have to add more layers onto a thinner core
