doesn't matter to me either way. Fender should have owned those shapes from the beginning since they invented and created them. I'd like to see Fender prevail and get legal ownership, even though it's a longshot; at least for future guitar builds. Owners of existing copies that are grandfathered in would see the value of their guitars go up too.

now, let's see who builds a better Ford mustang copy...
I agree completely. I really wish the original electric guitar innovators protected their stuff from the very beginning and any new company was forced to invent their own thing.
 
I agree with you guys that Fender 'should' have done more to protect their design if it was so important to them. They didn't. So that's that.

The people that are creating outright Strat copies should be shut down some how. But Fender shouldn't be allowed to take any claim on the "S" shape. That's a stretch imo.
 
Back when Howard Stern was controversial on the radio and people called in to complain, the FCC told people they could change the channel if they didn’t like him.

Turned out, 75% of his audience were people who identified as haters.

i remember reading an article about that, how people couldnt stand him but would tune in to "hear what he says next".
